Grading Information
Dedication, practice, and progress are critical to the success of our instrumental program! Hard work and persistence help students feel confident on their instrument and builds pride in what we do. All members will be assessed based on the their Progress, Practice and Preparation, and Attendance. Please review our lesson rubric to help your child reach their full musical potential.
Each student will be assigned exercises in their lesson book and/or concert music that they are required to prepare for each new lesson. These exercises are designed so students can incrementally improve, and help prepare them to play to their best ability. Students will be asked to play one or more of these assigned exercises in their lesson and will be graded based on the rubric attached on the right side of this webpage.
Students are also graded on time devoted to practice. The Lower Dauphin music department asks that students strive for 100 minutes of practice between lessons. This number sounds high, but if you can devote at least 14 minutes of practice per day, this goal is attainable. A copy of our lesson log can be found on this page. Thank you for your support. With your help, the kids will reach their full potential, and feel and strong sense of pride.
