How can I help my child succeed?
Parents who help their children practice at home will notice a higher achievement level with their kids. This can be difficult if you've never played an instrument (or the one they're learning) or read music before. You will find a variety of conversation starters that you can have with your child to the right. This will excite your child to share, and also allow you to learn together. As always, if you have any questions, feel free to email me at jirvin@ldsd.org!
These questions and phrases are intended to give you ideas to begin having musical conversations with your child. The more we talk to them about their instrument, the more they will be able to enjoy this new experience!
Thank you so much for your support. You're child will be more successful because of it!
Can you show me how to put your instrument together?
I was listening to you practice, and it sounds like you are learning more notes. Can you show me the fingerings of the notes you have learned so far?
I've noticed you haven't practiced in a while. Do you want to talk about it?
I think you are sounding great! Do you want to play a couple of songs for the family?
Can you teach me how to make a sound on your instrument?
